Experience

Cindy Patterson holds a degree in elementary education and psychology. She worked in Montessori schools for about 20 years. She has taught and directed Sunday School and Bible School for all age groups and attended church camp with teenagers. She also has experience as a child abuse caseworker, and has been a volunteer guardian ad litem in the juvenile court system, representing the interests of children in foster care. She is the proud mother of an adult son and has enjoyed time with him and his friends as he has grown through the exciting and often challenging stages of childhood. Although she is no longer teaching fulltime, she continues to tutor individual children. Mrs. Patterson has a hands-on approach to learning, believing most people learn best by being actively involved. She also believes there is a way to reach every child, and a teacher's job is to find it. She has seen and experienced the boredom of sitting at a desk with worksheets all day, and looks for ways to avoid that with the children she teaches. She tries to present children with a variety of ways to learn and to capitalize on the ones that succeed with a particular child. All of her curriculum was written for the needs of specific children and has been successful. She believes everyone, regardless of age and ability, should be treated with respect and love.
